OPPORTUNITY

The original property, a former single resident occupancy apartment hotel, presented a unique reinvention opportunity and a chance to better fit in with and serve the iconic Gold Coast and River North neighborhoods.

CHALLENGE

Combining a healthier, environmentally friendly operation with the stylish and technologically advanced modernity guests expect was a particularly difficult challenge. The strict requirements to meet eco-friendly standards demanded both creativity and diligence.

SOLUTION

Oxford made extensive use of reclaimed materials to develop a sustainable, green hotel. The Hotel Felix is equipped with advanced systems that conserve water, reduce consumption of electricity and minimize waste, while incorporating natural elements in the details and luxury amenities to transport guests back to nature.

RESULT

Hotel Felix is the first eco-friendly hotel in Chicago with a Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification and U.S. Green Building Council certification. The hotel’s other awards and nominations for innovation and redevelopment, as well as excellence in service and luxury, show that conservation and style can be combined to grand effect.
